when you learn an instrument (shakuhachi in my case) that requires to repeat small sequences (one breath) by listening to long audio files, pressing play/pause and scrolling back to the perfect starting point on a small screen is a very irritating task.
koala is an amazing tool to help you with this situation.
this very smart and affordable app is a « sampler » made to create electronic music but repurposed here for a music learning context.
import your file in koala (on any ios/android device).
use the auto-chop tool in lazy mode and flag each limit of the sequences you want to train on.
koala import those cells into individual pads that you can press (and even loop, not mentioning changing the pitch if the instrument you play on has a different one than the one used in your recording).
use the « one shot » button in order to have the sequence play by a single press.
you can even easily export the sequences if you want to use them outside koala (music teachers can share those with students who might be afraid of using koala)
