The cold heavens, a fierce tiger roaring in the temple of rocks
There’s no one in the forest, only the moon in the sky
The teachings of the Buddha echo in vain in the Age of Semblance Dharma*
I burn incense and preach only to the fierce spirits

Age of Semblance Dharma: The Middle Day of the Law in the Three Ages of Buddhism, or three divisions of time following Buddha’s passing. In this age, which only resembles the right Dharma, there is no enlightenment despite followers’ asceticism.
